“Hello” from Communities Building Youth Futures Initiative. 

The Communities Building Youth Futures (CBYF) project is a collective of young people, youth-serving organizations, and community groups working together to support youth across the Yukon.

The CBYF project receives funding and support from Tamarack Institute and Employment and Social Development Canada. 

We use a Collective Impact approach to target barriers youth face when graduating and transitioning out of high-school and into careers, and we work together to build supports and solutions for Yukon youth. The collective is currently made up of 12 core organizations, plus many more involved on our 3 Action Teams: our Individualized Learning Action Team, our Career Inclusion Action Team, and our Mental Health & Wellness Action Team.

…For youth-service providers to help address an essential youth request: “knowing what services or activities are available to us”. 

The request is the result of many youth engaged meetings and surveys dated as far back to 2017. CBYF is honoring the numerous requests and we hope you will join us to answer the call.

 Our solution is an over-arching Youth Network Hub in partnership with Shakat Journal, where youth can acquire knowledge about existing services, contacts, updated community activities, and more, all from a cell phone or laptop. Service providers will have access to several hub tools to self-update current information about the services they provide. These easy-to-learn tools provide numerous promotional elements and can be effortlessly shared anywhere beyond the Hub with simple-to-use posting buttons.

Currently, we are open to meet with providers to assist with these tools and to navigate the functions of the website. We understand that some providers may not have the ample skills to propagate their information, while others may find the task simple. For this reason we will be reaching out to assist in anyway we can.

CBYF Yukon & Shakat Journal, a youth-lead publication, have partnered to provide the Youth Network Hub.

The concept of merging is to support the reduction in duplication of services. CBYF Yukon, their executive and partnered members, contribute their content to Shakat Journal through a shared membership. Future opportunities and funded projects found on our website can be attributed to this partnership.

Our youth serving network will connect with youth organizations across the Yukon and beyond. Please enjoy and contribute to this youth-led initiative.
